Daily schedule and 2nd grade syllabus
Welcome to our classroom roadmap for 2nd grade in Clarkson, Kentucky. Here you will find our daily classroom routine, weekly specials, and an overview of our core academic and faith-filled curriculum.
Our typical daily routine
Every school day is thoughtfully planned to balance spiritual reflection, core literacy, hands-on learning, and necessary play to help every 2nd grader thrive.
Morning routine and literacy
We start every morning together in prayer, followed by spelling and language arts lessons, and our beloved student-chosen book of the month read aloud.
Religion, lunch, and recess
Midday brings dedicated religion instruction, followed by lunch and outdoor recess where students can relax, play, and build friendships.
Afternoon math and science
After recess, our afternoons are devoted to math exploration and interactive science investigations before preparing for afternoon dismissal.
Faith formation and First Communion
Our faith community gathers for school Mass every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. In 2nd grade, Catholic students prepare to receive their First Holy Communion, an extraordinary sacrament and spiritual milestone, while non-Catholic students participate in meaningful, inclusive religious studies.
Weekly specials schedule
Beyond our daily subjects, students enjoy weekly special classes that enrich their learning experience. Every Thursday, our class attends both Music and Library. Every Friday, students participate in Physical Education (PE), so please remember to send your child in comfortable activewear and sneakers.
Classroom rules and homework partnership
Our classroom thrives when we work hard, listen well, and support each other every day. If you see someone struggling, lend a helping hand. At home, consistency is key when guiding your child through homework; establishing routines can be challenging, but working together ensures every student's success.
